The little things
I need a vent…..My mother is driving me nuts….she has been so naggy lately, and interfering constantly. I know she’s stressed because of Dad being on crutches but honestly Mum…find another target!!! she keeps nagging me about doing this or that wrong with Katie, I dress her wrong, I don’t spend enough time with her, I spend to much time with her, I let her watch TV, then when I change the channel or turn it off I get nagged about not letting her watch her favourite programs!!!! I cant win!!! Yesterday I just about lost it…Katie fell and banged her chin, I dropped what I was doing and gave her cuddle and checked for injury (just a fright, no blood) when Mum calls her away from me to sit on her knee…I was so angry…its my job to comfort her and that’s what I was doing. Mum just had to interfere again! I know she only means well but honestly, I have brought up two kids already, I think I know what I am doing. You would swear by listening to Mum that I was a first time mother!!! I know what Katie needs and when…so Mum….Butt Out!!!!
Oh that feels better….sorry for the rant but I needed to get it out…I love my Mum and we are really close but sometimes….well even the closest people get feed up with each other sometimes!
Now talking about Katie…the kid is nuts lol….look at the photos I took yesterday
she was “helping” me make up some wee diecut dolls I got of Trademe a while ago and pulled out her wee magnifying glass (which use to live in my tool kit) and examined it in detail lol Needless to say I took a pile of photos and used them with the wee doll in a layout. You will have to wait to see that one
But I will show you this one, this is the one i did for Scrappin Patch shabby chic challenge, I don’t know if its really shabby chic but I like it. I don’t really know what Shabby Chic is, can anyone explain it to me?
Another thing I want to ask, does anyone out there know if its safe to use Beados on a layout? I got some for Katie and I to play with together but they are so cute I thought they would look great on a layout. I haven’t seen any used in scrapbooking but I figure if their safe for kids they must be acid free. what do you think?
anyway thanks for putting up with my ranting, sometimes you just gotta get it out there! we all have days like that dont we?
time to do something before I go pick up little miss mad girl from preschool.
have a happy day

Rejected….again
I should be use to it by now…I submitted a layout to Up 2 Scrap magazine yesterday and got a very brief email but rejecting it…oh well c’est la vie at least I keep trying, one day they might want one of mine. well I cant say I blame them, who wants a photo of me in a magazine anyway?
this one was taken on my 40th birthday. I enjoyed doing the layout anyway even if they didn’t want it.
I might have another go, I have a few days before the deadline on the 10th. See how I feel at the time. if this weather keeps up then there wont be much else to do and I did just download some very funky elements from shabby princess, the first digital elements I have ever paid for but they are definitely worth it. Birds, I love those cartoon type birds. I have got into a bit of hybrid scrapping lately, there are so many beautiful elements out there they are just to hard to resist.
I also got the PP’s I ordered from Scrappin Patch yesterday and they are all stacked up on my desk waiting begging me to use them
so many pretty papers, such a fab sale 50% papers, and just when I needed to restock since the big clean out last month. What I really need to do now is sort the basket on my desk that holds a pile of embellishments, I have no idea of half the things in there. And I have more things coming from Trademe that I have brought this week. I have spoilt myself a little lately but I am getting a bit low in supplies after all the scrapping i have been doing lately. I have nearly filled an album that I started at the end of January, already. Hardly a day goes by when I don’t spend at least a little time in my office creating. If only I could find a way to turn my creativity into real work.
in fact I might disappear in there for a wee bit now while Katie is involved in her favourite programs. I have half an hour before dinner
have a nice night all

Finally
I am finally back in the land of the cyber living. My new laptop arrived yesterday and I have spent the better part of last night and today setting it up and installing everything and trying to remember passwords and stuff like that. Its a bit more powerful than my old laptop and has a bigger hard drive but hasn’t got the finger print recognition which I used all the time or the short cut keys. It does have a web cam and facial recognition which I haven’t worked out yet. Katie loves the web cam, She was busy waving to herself last night and thought it was fabulous. She’s so funny.
Its so good to have my own laptop again, although I had use of Steve’s while he was at school it wasn’t the same. Now I can do what I want and save what I what.
My entire family is driving me nuts tonight….its only because I am tired I know but it seems like everyone is extra loud and extra annoying. I had such a terrible sleep last night, took forever to get to sleep and then Katie woke at 3am and didn’t go back to sleep until after 5.30pm. and she was up again at 8am so she’s more than a little tired. She’s off to bed. very shortly after shorty st that is lol.
before I go put her to bed though I just wanted to show off the layout I did for the Scrappin Patch sketch challenge, it only took me half an hour, that’s got to be a record for me. I can show you the one I did for the Stars in Their Eyes until the big reveal.
Time to put missy to bed. night night all

Oh the Drama!!
so it seemed so simple right? broken laptop power jack, take to computer doctor, they fix, problem solved…to quote the Tui ads, YEAH RIGHT!! for the last 10 days its been a big hassle, first the repair company told me the cord was broken, they ordered a new one, no worries. Then they tell me the jack is broken and it needs to go to the Toshiba specialist in Christchurch to see if it can be fixed but they think it wont be able to be fixed. So off it goes to Christchurch meanwhile I ring the insurance company and let them know whats happening, no worries they say, just let us know what the Toshiba specialist says and if need be we will replace it for you. The specialist calls and says the motherboard has been drowned by black coffee…now the mystery really starts, I don’t drink coffee, in fact no one in this house really drinks coffee that often. So I call the insurance company again and the specialist send them a assessment of damage. Now you would think things would be pretty straight forward right, laptop is unfix able, insurance company pays out, i get a new laptop? again I say YEAH RIGHT….now the insurance company want their people in Wellington to look at it. So now I have to get it back from Christchurch (the guy from the insurance company suggested I go and pick it up, a mere 5 hour drive, moron!) and then send it to Wellington for them to tell the insurance company its broken! Good Grief!!!! Mental note…change insurance companies!!! Honestly the stress is making me ill…I am tempted to say stuff em and go buy a new laptop but I really cant afford it at the moment. Excuse me while I curl into a ball and cry for a while….it doesn’t help that I have had an adverse reaction to something and feel totally awful, there are things I am not suppose to eat and obviously Steve’s BBQ cooking is one, we had a BBQ last night and now I feel sick…oh joy!
on the upside and to cheer me up I did a layout yesterday, the 2nd non competition layout I have done this year. I based this one on the TUI billboards as it was based on the photo of the boys and their cousins having a few beers with the family at Mum’s birthday party last year. Steve thought it was very cool, high praise from a teenager huh? lol
I also did a bit of OTP, doing a Kaisercraft pen and ribbon holder for my desk. I will add photos for the latest projects when I finally get my own computer again. I dont like to upload photo’s to Steve’s computer. He’s at work today which is the only reason I can get my hands on his new laptop lol.
anyway I am off to investigate this Project 365 I have been hearing about, sounds interesting, is anyone else doing it?
have a great weekend

PS I forgot to mention, I hit the big 40 on Monday. seems to be a big deal to everyone but me. I am looking forward to going to lunch with Mum, Dad and the kids though, which has become a bit of tradition since we moved to Nelson. We are going to the Smokehouse in Mapua this time…YUM.
Happy New Year
I can’t believe another year has slipped by and its New Years eve yet again. we are heading away later today to go camping for a few days. Katie’s first camping trip! and the first time I have been camping in years, I am not a huge camping fan, my idea of camping is a nice motel with indoor plumbing and comfy beds. But we are off to Maruia to the farm of family friends for 3 days. I am going armed with a good book, MP3 player and plenty of sunscreen and bug spray lol. Though to be honest I don’t like the look of the clouds gathering. I definitely do not see the fun of camping if its going to rain, I remember childhood camping trips that ended in soggy tents and wet beds, and that is so not for me.
the upside of going to the farm is that the hot pools are only half an hour away! how blissful does a soak in the hot pools sound? I spent most of my teen years in Hanmer Springs and loved the hot pools there. I am looking on the positive on this camping trip, it will be fun….I hope
I am kind of glad the silly season is nearly over. It was uuummm, interesting, (that’s a nice way to put it lol) to have my sister and her family here for Christmas but believe me, 4 days was more than enough. I love my sister dearly but we never will share the close sister bond that so many sisters have. I always wished we could but my DS has always kept me at a distance and treated me like I was still the annoying little sister she’s had to tolerate all my life. add to that the fact she insists on having everything her own way and she is very opinionated and bossy lol. but still, she is my sister and although I don’t live up to her expectations and never will I still love her. I think it was a relief to us all when we watched their car go down the driveway. She is very hard work.
It was a very enjoyable Christmas day,Katie and Steve got spoilt by Santa, as they should lol. Katie loves her dollhouse and Steve loves his mobile phone and I love that they enjoyed their pressies so much. And also I love the MP3 player I brought myself for Christmas on Boxing day lol…its PINK!!
Aunty Wendy and her hubby Jim and son Taieri came out for lunch. We all ate far to much and spent the afternoon regretting it lol. it was a good day, very relaxed.
Of course I did take advantage of the boxing day sales a little, nothing major expect the MP3 player. Katie got some vouchers for Warehouse and brought a doll that makes all sorts of noises. Steve had to work for the 3 days after Christmas and has now finished working for Payless and will be looking for another part time job after we get back from camping.
And now things are almost back to normal I managed to make a start on the Stars in Their Eyes competition Emily Falconbridge mini book. I spent a few hours on it last night, its coming along nicely. more my own style than Emily’s but at least I am trying right?
anyway best I get moving, I haven’t even packed yet…so much to do! Have a very Happy and Safe New Year everyone.
