A Rak and A Bargain
Monday afternoon Katie and I walked down to meet Steve from the bus, enjoying the break in the rain and the spring sun such as it was. we were nearly there when we were stopped by a lady backing out her driveway. She stopped and asked me if Katie would like a stuffed toy she was holding. She had just won it but didn’t want it so gave it to Katie. How kind was that? talk about a very random act of kindness. And this funky wee bumble bee has become a favourite already! She even took it to preschool yesterday and the teacher tells me she didn’t let it go the whole time she was there lol. She flies it around the house and the bee “collects honey” from everyone and from everything lol
We really enjoyed our walk, we left the car in the car park about half a km from the bus stop and got caught in the rain on the way back (and Steve moaned the whole way lol) but it was great to get out into the fresh air just because it was there. Mental note to self…Go and pick up Steve more often.
Yesterday while Katie was at preschool I went into town and of course had to go to Spotlight were I got a real bargain. They had these bags of all sorts for $10. In it was a Xyron tape runner (the big ones that are worth about $20) a set of Heidi Grace stamps, lots of photo corners, a set of Bella brads, some scrapbook PP, beads, some wool stuff that I have no idea what to do with and some other little bits and pieces. How amazing is that, what a bargain, and stupid me only picked up one bag, I should of got several of them, They had a few of these random bags full of end of the line type things. Really amazing bargains so go check out your local Spotlight and see if they have them, very worth the trip.
After my trip to Spotlight I did something I never get much of a chance to do and wandered around town and window shopped. It was fun just to look in all the windows and see all the new spring colours. I did buy myself a new shirt and a pretty cardigan from Millers. But I wasn’t actually in shopping mode.
Then I got back to my car and it wouldn’t start. I only had 20 minutes before I had to pick up Katie so needless to say I went into a wee panic. I rang AA, it only took them 15 minutes from the time I rung until a lovely man was there. It was only a lose battery terminal that took him all of two minutes to fix. I blame Dad, he fitted a new battery for me a couple of weeks ago and didn’t fit the terminals properly lol. So I was only 10 minutes late picking up Katie and I had rung them so it wasn’t a major.
By the time we did the grocery shopping and got home it was pouring down of course, unloading the car in the rain is so much fun, NOT! lol
anyway that was the beginning of my week, I better get the housework done because I want to do a bit of scrapping today. Steve is home with a bit of a cold, I think he just couldn’t be bothered going to school, I think he is a bit sick of school but he is still going back for year 13 next year. and I have the snuffles so its going to be a quiet day I think. I cant be bothered doing anything but I want to make a start on the Sketchbook Spring it on challenge and the Scrappin Patch recipe challenge

Great news….I managed to buy Katie a dolls house for Christmas off trademe for $31, what a bargain!!! and its just what I was after, she is going to love it. it needs a new hinge and a wee tidy up but I just cant wait to see her face when she unwraps it on Christmas morning, she is going to love it! she has a little plastic one at the moment that she plays with all the time but there is nothing like a good solid wooden dolls house, every little girl should have one. it was just luck that I managed to get it so cheap, the lady selling it accidently listed it for 24 hours instead of a week. how lucky for me!!
another Yah, Katie is finally in knickers full time, she doesn’t even need a night nappy any more and on Friday she had her first day at preschool in knickers and was good as gold, she has even given up her potty in favour of the big girls toilet. Even if I do have to race her to the toilet, every time I start heading in that direction she runs to beat me lol. but I am so proud of her, she is doing so well.
and yet another Yah, I sold Katie’s cot to a lovely couple from Golden Bay, they picked it up yesterday. it was a bit sad to see it go but its just another milestone passed. and the money can go toward Christmas pressies, I have got all Katie’s Christmas and Birthday pressies now so there is only a cell phone for Steve and something for Jodi, not sure what yet.
well that me, I am so tired after been up half the night with a sore neck and then an early morning visit from Miss Katie who decided to climb into bed with me at 3am. now I just want to curl in a ball and go to sleep lol. But I have things to do, I really need to put some thought into the new SBO Christmas challenge, making a Christmas decoration….I am so not good at that sort of thing, I made a centre piece for Scrapbox week 3 challenge and I hate it, it was done in a hurry and looks it. but I will come up with something….I am sure I will….hopefully lol….time to troll the net and see what I can find….hope you have all had a fantastic weekend and good luck to everyone entering challenges this week 
Another milestone
Yesterday would have been Chris’s 39th Birthday, another milestone has passed. He died 2 months before his 35th Birthday. We use to joke that he was my toy boy, being 10 months younger than me. so Happy Birthday my love…where ever you are.
We are having a bit of a sicky week so far this week with Steve down with a bad cold, Katie still has a bit of a runny nose and cough though I think it has more to do with the amount of pollen than a cold. and I have a sore throat but no other signs of a cold so it maybe that it has to do with the RA, I have had on going problems there, even lost my voice for over a month at one stage of it. Yes apparently RA can affect the small bone joints in your throat, bet you didn’t know that, I didn’t until it happened to me.
I have finished the advent calendar for SBO Christmas comp. Now this afternoon I will get started on Scrapbox challenge 1 which I haven’t even looked to see what it is yet. but right now, I better get myself and Katie dressed and get her to preschool. I am going to drop her off then shoot into Spotlight and see what they have I can use in these comps, I have very little in the way of Christmassy stuff in my stash.

Today has been a really good day. Katie’s first day at Pre-school went really well. In fact she dismissed me after 5 minutes lol. I thought I would be there for a while so didn’t plan anything but no, when I told her I would leaving soon she just said “bye Mummy” and started playing lol, I did get a kiss though. And when I went to pick her up she was happy as can be, painting and running around. The only way I managed to get her out of there without tantrums was by promising she could come back on Friday lol. And I didn’t even get any photos of her first day thanks to flat camera batteries. Mum even remembered to call to see how it went they will be home in 3 weeks…something else to look forward to
Since she didn’t need me I consoled myself by going shopping lol. New underwear always makes a girl feel better. I even managed to get a wee bit of Christmas shopping done though I have almost finished shopping for Katie’s birthday and Christmas, her birthday is 3 days before Christmas, I have to be organised for both. I have Steve’s all planned and got Mum and Dad’s so just Jodi and his girlfriend to go. How organised am I? Ever since Katie was born I found I have to be super organised instead of leaving it till the last minute like I use to lol.
while I was shopping I brought myself a little something cute for my scraproom. Wee funky cats, arent they cute? very bright and colourful.
and so exciting I won the Friday night challenge at Sketchbook I am so wrapped, how cool is that? Me who never wins anything has had 3 wee wins this week, I won $98 on lotto, a trademe t-shirt for getting to 500 positive feedbacks (who, me? addicted to trademe? never…YEA RIGHT!) and now this…must be my lucky week! and here is the winning layout, the 
photo is one of my favourites, my angel girl and me playing. I don’t even know who took the photo, Steve probably. and I just brought the buttons last week from spotlight, oddly enough Katie chose them lol.
I feel much more positive this week than I have for a while now, I think getting all it out there has done me a lot of good. that and the fact the weather has improved so dramatically, sunshine always makes one feel better.
and now, since I have been inspired by my win I think I will spend a little time in my scrapbook room fluffing lol. Have a good night all, hope you all had a fab weekend.

ok anyone in the scrapbook world knows when you say Tim its Tim Holtz your referring too. and look what he has done now….Distress Stickles, I am not big on the distressed look normally but I love the look of these things. might have to make another Tim investment lol.
today…day one of labour day and what did I do? well I took Steve to pick up his much anticipated copy of Fable II, he’s been waiting for this game to come out for almost a year so he is a happy wee camper. then we did the grocery shopping, checked last weeks lotto tickets, I won $98 YAY! and then came home because by then I was feeling more than a little wobbly. I spent the rest of the day on the couch alternating between napping and reading and cuddling up with Katie. I have been feeling really run down and sore the last few weeks and its caught up on me. and I know the best thing I can do is rest.
As a result…I have nothing exciting to tell you. I have been planning a new layout but only in my head so far. I really want a go at making these wee Yo-yo thingies and using them on a layout. And I have a few new sketches I want to have a go at. Wont be today though. maybe tomorrow if I am feeling better.
