Happy B’day my baby boy

june 11 002

This rather tall young man, my baby boy, turned 17 today. Omg where did that go, seems like only yesterday I was dealing with this screaming horrid baby (yes he honestly was the worst of my babies, he had colic for almost the first year of his life, and a scream that could, and constantly did, wake the neighbours, we even had the cops around a few times when the neighbours thought we were beating him lol) he has since made up for that terrible beginning to be the best behaved of my 3 babies and most definitely the easiest teenager so far. he really is an amazing boy, easy going, well behaved, doesn’t smoke, barely drinks, doesn’t go to parties and run around in cars, doesn’t even play his music loudly. any given weekend will find him helping out around home or at a mates place playing Xbox. what more could a mother want? he’s not perfect but damn near lol.

For his birthday Katie and I brought him a laptop backpack, he’s been asking for one for ages and a game of pictureka, which Steve and I played before dinner tonight, he cheats outrageously but then so did I lol….its half the fun of it, trying the cheat each other without getting caught…we are both so obvious that it ends up being a joke between us.

He is always fun to be with, we enjoy each others company and talk about all sorts, even read the same sort of books. how many mums can say that about their teenage sons?

though I don’t think his grandmother is to impressed with him at the moment, since she suddenly realised the other day that he is head and shoulders taller than her now lol…looks like he will reach that 6’4 predicated when he was a kid.

well besides Steve’s birthday there has been a bit going on around here. I haven’t blogged in a while, the main reason being I haven’t been well enough to hold my head up much less do anything else. My darling doctor thought it would be fun to play with my painkillers, and since my back has been giving me hell without let up he decided it would be a good idea to send me for an x-ray and put me on some serious painkillers, namely morphine..yah…if you have ever been on that stuff you will know the effect it can have.,..quite simply it can make you a little bit out of your head, away in lala land lol…so that’s how the weekend and first few days of the week went…or flew should I say. then on Tuesday I went back for another visit to said doctor and he has cut back on those, thank heavens and put me on something that is between codeine which is no longer effective, and morphine which is a little to effective. and finally, I am coming out of the fog and regaining my senses lol, even if I am now on so many pills I rattle when I walk lol…and since I am not doing that to well he has also instructed me to use crutches whenever I walk…I am starting to not like this man lol…he really is lovely but a girl could go off him in a big way! so now I am being dragged around by a pair of damn crutches but at least I am getting around and not a moment to soon since Katie has picked up one of those mysterious bugs that kids get and has been unwell for the last few days, though she is getting better now, I can tell, she’s getting bossy again lol.

anyway that’s enough babble for one night…I am off to cuddle up with a good book and listen to the rain…its pouring down here, I really like the sound of the rain at night, must be a left over from living in Greymouth all those years.

night night all, I will leave you with this ever so cute photo of Katie giving Steve a birthday kissjune 11 004, how sweet is that?

sweet dreams

Getting there

Posted in family, life in general, rheumatoid arthritis by Vicky on May 28, 2009

slowly but surely my back is starting to come right, I had acupuncture on Tuesday and that helped but I am still living on painkillers and resting when I can, its been such a busy week though that I haven’t had much in the way of rest.

Yesterday I took Katie into the hospital to get her hearing checked and see if she needed grommets or not. She refused blankly to be even slightly helpful at first, right up until i bribed her with McDonalds for lunch. Her hearing is ok at the moment but if she gets more ear infections this winter she may have to have them. She’s got another appointment in 3 months time.

Today it was Steve’s turn, He had to get part of his big toe removed to stop him from constantly getting ingrown toenail. Poor bugger has already had the nail removed once and as soon as it grew back he had the same problem so today the doctor cut one side of his toe away to allow the nail to grow normally. He must have got about 10 stitches. Our doctor is wonderful though, he kept Steve distracted while he was busy with the scalpel. It was pretty gross to watch!

and tomorrow its more physio for me. Talk about a week of medical drama lol…there has only been one day without some kind of medical appointment this week and that was Monday! talk about an unhealthy lot!

Its just been one of those weeks and I am so tired, Katie had a bad night last night and was a bit snuffly, so she ended up in bed with me at about 2am.

That kid is a clown, you should see her at the moment, she just had a banana and put the skin on the ground and pretended she was slipping over on it! lol she’s definitely got her brothers mad sense of humour.

anyway I am going to have dinner and hopefully an early night.

night night all

oh the drama

Posted in Rheumatoid, family, life in general, rheumatoid arthritis by Vicky on May 21, 2009

this week so far has been one thing after another. Last Friday i fell over on our gravel driveway and wrenched my back and have out of action ever since. I went to the doctor on Monday and he gave me some pain killers and muscle relaxants and sent me to the physio which was one of my two appointments on Tuesday. First I had to go to the rheumatology nurse to be assessed to see i still qualify for the Humira injection that keeps the RA in check, seems I am borderline to keeping it because I still have a far bit of joint pain…something else to worry about. after a quick trip to warehouse to get Katie some more PJ’s it was back home with just enough time to grab a quick cuppa and then off to physio, who is really lovely and also treating dad at the moment lol.

and to add to that both Katie and Steve have been sick this week, they both had a tummy bug and Steve had a couple of days off school and Katie had one day of preschool but their both fine now. And Dads ankle is getting better at long last, he has been on crutches since Easter and is now getting around with just one crutch and is a lot happier, another week and he will be back to normal.

so all in all its been a pretty stink week really, i am sick of reading, i cant sit up long enough to scrapbook and i am bored silly!!! Mum got a part time job with a company that does stocktaking, today is her first day, so i haven’t even got her to moan to lol. But I am glad she has found a job that’s low stress but gets her out of the house for a couple of days a week, she must get so sick of looking after Dad and I, today she is working out Countdown in Nelson and had to leave at 5am so she will be buggered by the time she gets home. but it gives her a little extra income now that they are both on the super.

Oh talking about getting older, the other day I was reading our local paper and came across an article about a guy i went to school with, it had a photo with it and OMG he looked old!!!!! the in dawned on me, all those kids I went to school with are the age our parents were back then lol…if not older. we are the ones now who have kids at school who think we are old lol.

and on that note. its taken me nearly two hours to type this, its very to type lying down so everyone have a wonderful Thursday hope the sun is out at your place, it is here but its still cold.

bye

Challenges

Challenges, challenges…and what have I achieved? not a thing, I have spent the day on the couch feeling sorry for myself, I feel like shyt if you will excuse the expression. Sore hips, hands, head, jaw…..well you name its sore sigh…so I have had a “I feel sorry for me” day….I suppose we are all entitled to one of them every now and then.

I really want to be scrapping but don’t have the energy, I seriously want to have a go at Hannah’s challenge at Sketch Book, black and white with one other colour, sounds like a great challenge and I really love Hannah’s example layout, its gorgeous.

I also want to have a crack at Scrap the Boys challenge this month but I have plenty of time for that and the other challenge is a male orientated one as well and that’s Scrappin Patch Man Friday challenge which is another one that appeals.

april 014I have completely lost the plot of the SBO Great Race, a nightly challenge was far to much for me, especially this week when I have been feeling less than my best. I would of loved to give it a better shot but have only managed 2 layouts, this one is the last one, I wanted to do last nights which looked like a lot of fun it was Japan and centred around Super Kawaii (in English Super Cute). Bright funk colours, big eyed cartoons, sugary sweet clothes…just my sort of thing…lots of pink!!!!!! I wonder if Hello Kitty is amongst that lot,  I love Hello Kitty (ask Katie, she has a heap of Hello Kitty 6a00d8341c2df453ef00e54fa982428833-800withings and she has shown totally no interest in them lol…but I like them so she gets them.) I love love love the stripped tights in this picture lol…wonder if Katie would wear them…like she’s got a choice…she’s three…I still get to pick her clothes!!!!with funky pink boots and a little skirt…tooo cute…I LOVE HAVING A DAUGHTER!!! the boys were never as much fun to dress. and back to the challenges, even though

that Super Kawaii one was yesterday I might give it a shot anyway tomorrow, if I am feeling better, just because I like it.

anyway I hope all of you at scrap retreats are having fun….I will join you one day. but right now its almost time to put my DD to bed.

Night night all

Still Here

I haven’t been very good at keeping this ol blog of mine up to date lately. Its been a very busy time. But I have finally got all the Christmas shopping finished, Katie’s birthday party organised and the final project for SBO’s Christmas challenge done. Not to mention lots of pressie wrapping and house cleaning.

Tomorrow is Katie’s 3rd birthday party, though her birthday isn’t until Monday. I thought a paddling pool party would be a lot of fun, but doesn’t look like the weather is going to agree with me. Taking this into account I also brought a few games and organised some indoor activities. The party is only for an hour and a half, I figured that’s long enough to a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds. Today I have to make her Cuppy Cake birthday cake, that should be fun, watch this space for photos later :)

I was totally wrapped how well my SBO house came out, considering I completely lost my mojo this week. It came back on Thursday and Mum took care of Katie so I could get it finished. I will share photos after the big reveal on Wednesday. the raffle draw for the MM Slice is on Wednesday too….wouldnt that be a great Christmas surprise?

Now that the competitions are over ,except Stars in their Eyes, I am going to do some scrapping for myself. I was going through my latest album the other day and out of 17 layouts only 2 were done just for the simple pleasure of scrapbooking. all the rest were competitions. I am not sure I want to carry on with the Stars in their Eyes comp though I do want to do the Emily Falconbridge mini album because I have some great ideas for that one. I will see how I feel after that. I have a few projects I want to do. I doubt I will get much done before Christmas, to much to do and Katie finishes preschool on Tuesday and my sister and her family arrive on Tuesday, I have a hairdressers appointment on Wednesday YAY…I am so sick of my hair so I have decided its all got to go, short and funky and a few foils to add a bit of colour. I cant wait!!!

right now the housework calls and I have to take Steve to work soon. So I better move, I think I need another cup of tea to get me moving this morning, its so wet and miserable outside and the damp gets into my joints and makes me sore but a cuppa fixes everything right….its the kiwi way lol.

have a great weekend all!
