Day 5
Day 5 of the SBO greatest race and I have submitted a grand total of ONE layout, this one. Tonight is Denmark, and a winter theme….help….I cant think of a single good wintery photo in my entire collection unless I go back about 10 years. We don’t really have serious winters here in sunny Nelson.
Where has the last 5 days gone? between Katie being sick and me being well…a little more in pain than normal and I don’t know…its just one of those weeks that is disappearing fast.
Dancing with the Stars is one, I love Geraldine Brophy so vote for her, shes just so lovely and looks like she is having a ball, I dont really care that she is not a fantastic dancer because she enjoys it so much. Plus she is supporting the Arthritis society which of course is a fab charity. I often think I should try and organise a charity crop for the Arthritis society, they have been really helpful since I got RA and do so amazing work.
Anyway going to watch the rest of Dancing with the Stars before I go to bed.

Sick Girl and Happy Mail
Katie has been up and down since yesterday afternoon. I thought she had come right this morning but she was down again this afternoon and has been getting roaring temperatures that go up suddenly and go down just as fast. Poor baby she’s so unhappy and very very cuddly which is a sure sign that she is sick, she’s normally far to busy to have more than a very fleeting cuddle but today she has been cuddling up on my knee or snuggling up to me and giving lots of kisses which I take advantage of while I can, it doesn’t happen often. I just spent the better part of the last hour and a half sitting on the floor next to her bed singing her to sleep, after dosing her with panadol and rubbing her back with Vicks. She just couldn’t get comfortable and settle down. Finally I just sat and sung You are my Sunshine over and over until she fell asleep in self defence…works every time lol.
Katie and I got some happy mail today. weeks ago I signed up for the new
Nutricia web site and promptly forgot all about it and then today in the mail we got this cute wee teddy. It was so great to get happy mail for a change. The only question now is does this wee fellow go to Katie or does he take up residence on my desk in my scraproom. Hmmm well Katie hasn’t claimed him yet as she prefers her precious Teddy Bear who sleeps with her every night and lights up (its one of those glo e bears) which she got for her 3rd birthday and she has loved since first sight so I may get this wee darling yet lol….I cant help it….I have a real soft spot for cute wee teddies.
Exciting news today, my brother in Aussie rung this morning and wants us to go to Aussie for Christmas. Cant wait!!! he was suppose to come home but his kids are all working over Christmas so he’s going to come home in March instead and is shouting Mum, Dad and Steve over but I get to pay for me and Katie, how mean is that??? lol. He had to pay for Steve because he promised him a trip over for his 17th so he could celebrate with his cousin who is 2 weeks older. So they will be celebrating late, since their birthdays are in May and June lol.
Anyway that’s me for the night, I had a very long night last night with Katie so I am going to have an early night.

SBO’s amazing race
The race has started and its a very exciting competition. Check out the SBO forum for the first challenge and congrads Jenny who was so quick off the mark and got the 30 items of Aussie Scrap Source.
I don’t think I will have time to do all the layouts required but I might have a go tomorrow if I get a chance.
I did some scrapping today, only because I have had to spend 24 hours without internet since we decided to change back from Slingshot to Xtra and the modem was a bit slow in arriving. But all is set up now and running a lot faster. I was playing super geek before and had Dad’s laptop and mine side by side while I installed Windows One Care on Dads and changed the necessary settings on mine for email etc. It took me back to the bad old days when I was working as a techie. I don’t miss the stress and politics but I do miss working with computers and other geeks. Not that I would want to go back to it now. My body wouldn’t handle the stress or the fiddling around in small spaces.
I did think of getting back into tutoring but there is so much politics involved and I know that I couldn’t handle the stress. If only I could find a job that involved scrapbooking and teaching…that would be my ultimate. But cant see it happening so I will just have to find something more realistic.
I had a good time playing around in my scraproom today. I haven’t been to well the last few days and didn’t feel like doing much of anything so I did a little tidying and completed a layout that was in my mind which turned out just as i had pictured it, how often does that happen? I will take a photo and upload tomorrow. Mean time…think I will go read my book, there’s nothing on TV.
night night all…and good luck to all those taking part in the amazing race.

a mystery
Andrea at SBO is up to something…a challenge? a competition? not sure but check out this thread on the forum http://scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2720 I cant wait to find out more myself, roll on Friday.
I went to Spotlight yesterday, just to pick up a new blade for my cutter and they had a huge pile of PP on sale, HALF PRICE! wow I thought to myself, I will just have a quick peek, there was Basic Grey, Kaisercraft, American Craft and heaps more so of course a peek turned into a buy though I did restrain myself and didn’t get a huge pile, only half a dozen, aren’t I good? I have just been through my PP stash and sold a whole lot on trademe so my stash is looking a little sad but I figure anything thats more than a year old will never get used so out it went. I also picked up a few other little bits and bobs, as you do, some bling and such like. Not that I can get into my scraproom at the moment, Steven took it over with his xbox so he could hook up to the modem and play xbox live (and eat all my bandwidth!!!!!! GRrrrrrr I had to buy more right at the end of my billing period) and now his xbox and tv take up half the room and the rest is taken up with a pile of games and other such junk. Tonight when he gets home from school he gets to clean the whole lot up and give me my sanity space back….I NEED IT! Even if I just go in there to sit and stare into space for a while I find it relaxing to be away from everyone and just breath. Everyone needs at least one little space where they can sit and chill out.
And after the weekend I just had I need to have some time out. My big brother Geoff came for the weekend. I love him dearly but man he is hard work, so overly sensitive you have to watch everything you say around him and he insists on talking Maori all the time even though he knows I can’t understand most of what he says. talk about drive me nuts!!! You cant pick your relations I suppose. I so cannot work out how anyone in my family can be completely devoid of a sense of humour, the rest of us are as nutty as fruit cakes lol…
I found the perfect way to teach your teenager not to leave their cellphone in their pockets when they throw their pants into the washing machine, make them buy their own cellphones lol….Steve washed his new cellphone that he got for Christmas (I might add that it was flasher than my own one) and had to use his hard earned money to buy himself a new one on Friday, I wonder how long this one will last. bet it lasts longer than the last 2 have. Its amazing how much more they appreciate something when they have to pay for it themselves isn’t it. And talking of Steve, time I went to pick him up from the bus…geeezzz I am such a nice mother, I had to walk for 2 k’s after I got off the bus when I was his age. Maybe I should make him walk…..hahahahaha yea right!!
anyway check out the SBO forum and see what Andrea is up to this time.

Another one over
Scrappin Patch Stars in their Eyes competition winners have been announced. No it wasn’t me lol, never thought it would be but congrads to these very talented ladies. the winners are
1st place – Liz (aka scrapdizzy)
2nd place – Lynne (aka*lynne*)
3rd place – Beverley (aka fifiscrapz)
I love these ladies work, they really are inspiring scrappers. The whole competition was great, I learnt a lot from a lot of very talented scrapbookers. It was well worth taking part and at least I got one placing, 3rd is better than
nothing at all lol. Here is my last layout for the competition, I just love the colours that Kelly Goree uses, so bright and funky.
I got very brave the other day and submitted two layouts to the new Scrapbook Innovations Magazine that’s due to be released sometime this month. I haven’t heard anything back yet and don’t really expect them to be excepted but its worth a shot, I can but try right? I am really just scrapping for myself these days, one can only take so much rejection and I enjoy not having to care what anyone thinks of my layouts and using what I want.
I am suppose to reducing the mountain of clean washing into neat little folded piles right now but it simply doesn’t seem to be getting any smaller. I hate folding washing, someone should invent a machine to fold washing lol. And iron and put it away, life would be so much easier
and on that silly thought, back to it. If I can finish this then maybe I can get into my scrapbook room and give it a clean, its a mess.
Enjoy the rest of your day
