senior moments and miracles

Here I am I sitting back feeling so smug about finishing my layout for the Sketchbook SBO fortnightly challenge on Saturday but its only finished when its uploaded into the gallery right? lol I kind of forgot that step. But its been done on time despite the fact that the gallery saying that it was already closed, thanks Hannah for leting us know that it doesnt close until midnight.

So one senior moment for me…seem to having a lot of those lately…maybe I should blame the medication.

and the miracles…well just one…After me trying to get Katie to sleep for over an hour She starts calling for Steve (which of course made me feel so good…NOT!) and he lay down next to her and she was sound asleep within 5 minutes…what does he do that I dont? Mind you, Katie will do anything for her big brother, she adores him. She calls him Da and He calls her Bo and they are so close its lovely to see.

You would not believe the beautiful velvet ric rak I got at Spotlight yesterday. Its American Craft ribbon and was only $1.75 a roll of 4 metres and so many beautiful colours. being a very tactile person I love the feel of the velvet.

I am in the middle of making a mini book for Dad for his birthday which is 2 days away. its not going to ready on time but hes use to me being late with everything lol…and it will take a few days to get to Haast anyway. I let Katie lose with paints and brushes and rollers for the pages, she did a lovely job of painting each page with greens, browns and blues and had great fun doing it and made it very special for her beloved Gandad.

I will take some photos before I send it off, I have only made one other mini book before and that was about 3 years ago lol.

i didnt win lotto

I was suppose to win Lotto tonight, I have had these reacuring dream that I win $18 million in Loto…oh well back to dreaming I suppose…but just imagine what scrapbook goodies you could buy with that much money in the bank…ALL of them lol…dreams are free! Maybe I was suppose t win the $20 Mill its jackpoted to

Talking of scrapbooking, the Love Elsie Recipe Box I brought of trademe arrived today…wahooo it is so cool. I want to try all of the ideas…NOW lol…it makes me want to scrapbook my wee heart out. I love Love Elsie!

And more on the subject, I finished my layout for Hannah’s sketch today and I must say it was a lot of fun. I tried a few new things and used a few new things…like the very funky cupcake stamp I brought off trademe from StampnScrap and the flock I got from SBO a wee while back and have only tried once. I stamped and scraped and fiddled most of the afternoon, I was just in one of those fiddly moods today.

And one more thing on that subject…I am not the brightest cookie in the bunch at times. I did the layout below for the Naught or Nice submission for Up2Scrap but what I didnt bother to check was when it was due…smart girl that I am sent it in 5 days late…duh Vicky!! oh well….at least I finally got around to scrapping the photos of my crazy sons and I can share it too lol.

I do need to do two small Yahoos….One….Steve and his mate Carlo are resident heros today…they used the skills learnt in Electronics at school to fix my laptop cord, well at least keep it working well enough to get me through until the new one arrives. Arent they heros? they are so smart and know it lol.

and Yahoo number two…Katie is in bed sound asleep before 9pm for the 3rd night in a row! yipee…and it took less than an hour to get her to sleep…things are improving…long may it last.

and now…hmmm might go trademe cruising before I go to bed.

the good and the bad

well good news,…..Katie is asleep after a small battle, and in her own bed.  YAY a break through. Last night she woke up at about 10.30 after a bad dream and it took about an hour to get her back to sleep but she did stay and her own bed. I think we are finally starting to get somewhere toward improving her sleep patterns but time will tell….I need her in a routine again before she starts pre-school next month.

The bad news is, my laptop cord has bit the dust! it broke off at the connection. So annoying because they cost a bomb to to get new ones. I got it fixed a few weeks ago but it didnt last long so I have finally admitted defeat and brought a new one off trademe, at least it didnt cost me the $200 + I was quoted from Noel Lemmings.  I means I have to wait until next week for it to arrive which means bugger all computer time for me. Frustration!

Oh well never mind. I will have to see I can tape it up until the new one arrives but right now…I am off to bed…theres nothing on TV. I missed the end of the movie which i was enjoying but by the time I got Katie to bed I got back in time to see the credits rolling sigh…story of my life.

miracles will never cease

its a miacle or all miracles, Katie is sound asleep. After last night of the fight of all fights and finally getting her to sleep somewhere after midnight, tonight she had an early dinner and bath and then curled up beside me on the couch while I was watching very important Tim Holtz videos on youtube and she was sound asleep but 6.45pm ohhhhh BLISS. Maybe I should play her Tim Holtz videos more often lol….well actually I think it was more a case of a very very late night and an equally busy day.

I had to drop the car in for a service and warrent today so Katie and I walked home, it took us over an hour but it was a great walk. She walked most of it but I had to put her in the pushchair a few times, mainly when we were forced to walk on the road. A lack of footpaths is one of the joys of living in the country.  So that wore her out, then I kept her busy most of the afternoon playing silly games and play-dough and anything else I could think of until she started getting really ratty about 5ish, then it was dinner and a nice long bubble bath and then she was asleep hardly 10 mins after she was in her PJ’s. And I am so tired lol….I think I might go have a wee play in my scrapbook room before I go to bed. Don’t think I will last long…might as well get a decent sleep while I can….She will probably be up very early.

I want to get a start on the Sketchbook SBO fortnightly sketch, Hannah’s sketch is awesome and uses one of my very favourite things, diecut paper.

Wednesday again

No wahoot this week…I am tired and a bit grumpy…Katie hasn’t been to sleep before 10pm for almost a week, sometimes as late as midnight and its wearing me out. I have tried every trick in the book to get her to bed on time but nothing works, when miss stubborn chooses not to sleep neither hell nor high water will make her. So more patients and more perseverance and one very tired me sigh…this too will pass.

I have had little time for myself this last week, it took me 3  days to finish one layout. If it wasn’tfor Steve I would have had no time at all….he has been a real big help, taking Katie so I can put my feet up and have a hot cuppa occasionally but hes busy with his exams and I don’t like to put to much on him, hes got enough on his plate.

Today he didn’t have an exam so took her for a walk up the Nelson Cathedralsteps while I was in talking to the insurance broker. She loved it, he let her run up and down the steps and hopefully wear herself out but its now 8.25 and shes still wide awake sigh. She’s not being naughty or causing chaos, just playing with her crayons and watching a dvd (Little Princess again!) I have discovered if I force her to go to bed and she gets upset before she goes to sleep she inevitably wakes several times and gets really upset but if I let her go in her own time she sleeps really well. Last night we lay in my bed watching one of her dvd’s on my computer until she feel asleep about 10ish and she didnt wake until 9.30am. So when she sleeps she sleeps really well…just not early enough.

On the upside and a wee wahoot…Katie has been accepted to Richmond Early Learning Centre which opens in mid October, She starts on the 28th of October for 6 hours a week….YIPEEE….That means she gets to have social time and I get to have ME TIME ohhhhh YAHOOO lol….and the center is just down the road from the swimming pool so I can go back to swimming a couple of times a week like I use too…I cant wait. It will be good for both of us.

I love my DD, shes the center of my world, but as every Mum knows, you have to have some ME time and right now I am desperate for some ME time. its not a problem when Mum and Dad are home, there is always someone there when I need some time out but their away in Haast whitebaiting for another 2 months yet. So that leaves…welll ME and sometimes Steve but I made the biggest mistake today….I brought Steve an XBox…well actually he paid for half…so now I wont see him unless there is a major power failure or something lol…he has been working so hard and saving so hard that I promised to go halves with him on the proviso that he doesnt forget to study or do his chores. And right now…he is one happy camper…Hes hooked it up to Dads big 42 inch tv and is happy as can be. He deserves it, hes such a good boy.

and now….for my little show off for the day….I finally finished this a few days ago, took awhile.

I love the PP’sthat come with this months SBOkit and the stamps.  I am mad of bird stamps and thought the wee owls that came with a kit a while back suited the whole idea of the 3 kids.

anyway thats my babble tonight…I am off to trademe to check out some of the auctions on my watchlist
